Fundraiser provides social outlet for children and youth with disabilities

Toronto, ON- November 26, 2014 – More than half of children with physical or intellectual disabilities have no friends, according to a study conducted by Dr. Anne Snowdon. The renowned speaker, professor and Academic Chair of The International Centre for Health Innovation at the Ivey School of Business will be the guest speaker at a fundraiser being held on December 3, 2014 at the Granite Club at 2350 Bayview Avenue, Toronto. The event will raise money for Ability Online which provides a safe, monitored online social network for children and youth with disabilities, and resources for parents.

Michelle McClure, who has been the Executive Director of the charity since its inception in 1991, says, “We receive no government funding, so the money we receive from this gala is critical. It will help us expand the capabilities of the website and also help us launch a national campaign to extend our reach across Canada. It is our mission to help disabled children and young adults find friendship and support from others who face similar challenges.”

The annual gala features a four course meal, cocktails, and a silent auction with items such as platinum Leafs tickets, golf packages, gift baskets and more.Tickets to the event can be purchased online at www.abilityonline.org for $175 each, $1280 for Corporate Table of 8 or $1500 for table of 10. Purchase online or call 416-650-6207 for more information.
